| step 1 - making piping and cutting out parts

cut about 25cm of that 1/8" rope stuff, and then cut a strip of your wool flannel about 25cm long and around 2cm wide. |
wrap the wool around the rope and pin it there, in the fashion seen below. thread up your machine and put your zipper foot on your sewing machine (the kind seen in the pic which looks like half a foot) and sew that thing together very close to the rope. use a straight stitch, of course, not a zigzag or anything else. set it up so it sews about 4 stitches per centimeter. |
 print out the pattern and pin it on the fabric like so. then cut out the fabric and pattern along the outer lines. do this with each of the 3 different pieces, 2 wool and 1 cotton.  |
